Top of the World is the second single from Brandy's sophomore album "Never Say Never." The song features rapper Ma$e.

The song received radio airplay in the United States on July 3, 1998 and the CD single was released on November 6, 1998.

It was written by Mason Betha, LaShawn Daniels, Traci Hale, Fred Jerkins III, Rodney Jerkins (who produced the song), Isaac Phillips & Nycolia Turman.

Remix Version[]

A remix version of "Top of the World" featuring Latin rappers Fat Joe and Big Pun appeared on Big Pun's 2001 compilation album "Endangered Species."

The song was previously released on the remix EP "U Don't Know Me (Like U Used To): The Remix EP."

Music Video[]

The music video was directed by Paul Hunter in June of 1998.

The video featured Brandy floating in the air, flipping and somersaulting above various objects such as telephone poles and vehicles (as passersby stopped to stare) & balancing vertically and horizontally alongside skyscrapers & other buildings.

Chart Performance[]

"Top of the World" topped the U.K. R&B Chart for six weeks and hit #2 on the UK national chart.

It became the second consecutive European success for Brandy and peaked at number ten on the European Singles Chart.

The song also charted at number eleven on the New Zealand Singles Chart and 21 on the Canadian Singles Chart.

In the United States, the song was a modest hit, peaking #44 on the Hot 100 Airplay, #19 on the R&B charts and #10 on the Rhythmic Chart.

The song topped the U.K.'s R&B chart for a week in September of 1998. It also topped the Canadian RPM Dance chart for two weeks.
